Splunk 6 - Is there any way to get the dropdown menus back?

Hi,

So I've been playing around with Splunk 6 and I'm wondering if there's any way to configure it so that we get the drop down menus back? That made it much easier to navigate beteween dashboards/apps in Splunk 5.x, where as Splunk 6 I seem to have a lot more clicks to get to where I want to go.

Has anyone found this to be an issue or have you just gotten used to it? I'm failing to see any added benefits to this new UI, but maybe it's just me?

Those dropdowns have always been app dependant. They were in v5 and earlier Search app's menu structure, but many other apps didn't have them. Therefore, for most apps, there's not much difference in v6 in terms of navigating to the list of dashboards.

However, you can always change your views and other web UI aspects. Check the Developing Views and Apps for Splunk Web: Customization options part of the docs as a jumping off point.

It would be nice if there was a simple option to revert the UI exactly as was, without having to dig into the XML.

ah yes you're right, it never occurred to me that they had simply changed the XML on the Search App. A quick change of the xml brings it all back. 🙂
